In order to receive mail, or for people to visit your website, you need to have access to an internet domain. This can be either a domain which you own and are responsible for or a shared domain provided to you by a service provider. The internet domain is visible to people as the part after the @ in your e-mail address or, usually, the part of your web address after the www.

Most of our clients elect to have their own domain rather than to share one from an ISP. The principal reason that they make this decision is that using a shared address such as @freeserve.com or @fsnet.co.uk impersonalises their business. In addition, many organisations feel that using a shared address is less professional than using their own.
